This is my version of Garfield. He is walking around, counting his money, and simply living his life.
I wanted to take a character that almost everyone recognizes and recreate him in my own style. He still has the familiar stripes, big eyes, round body, and laid-back personality, but the exaggerated proportions and loose lines make him feel like he belongs in my world.
There isn't some complicated reason for the money in his hands. He's not robbing anyone, planning anything, or trying to prove something. He has some cash, he's counting it while he walks, and he seems perfectly content doing his own thing.
That simplicity is what I like about him. There doesn't always need to be a deeper problem or meaning behind a character. Sometimes someone can just be happy, have a little money in their pocket, and keep moving.
